Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal is a medical procedure to safely and permanently reduce unwanted hair growth. The energy emitted by the laser device targets the hair shaft's dark pigment and destroys the hair follicles.
At La Vie Spa, our highly trained and medically licensed specialists use state-of-the-art Candela GentleMax Pro Plus Medical Lasers designed to treat all skin types.
Candela lasers have a patented cooling system that offers the most comfortable treatment with optimal results.

*Avoid tanning of any kind for at least two (2) weeks before treatment. This includes sun, tanning bed, and any form of self-tanning (i.e., lotion sprays and foams). The Laser is specifically attracted to pigment. Sun exposure, resulting in a tan, tanning bed, or self-tanning, may result in a burn, hyperpigmentation (darkening of the area), or hypopigmentation (loss of pigment). This is typically a temporary reaction, but it may take several months for your skin to return to its normal state.
*Refrain from laser treatment during antibiotics. You may resume laser treatments ten (10) days after your last dosage.
*Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily. Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every 90 minutes when in the sun. When swimming or sweating, reapply every 30 minutes. This rule applies to pre- and post-laser treatment.
*Stop bleaching, waxing, tweezing, or using any depilatories 3 to 4 weeks before and avoid them completely during treatment. You may shave the area.
*Stop using retinol or Retin-A 7 to 10 days before your treatment.
*Discuss any photosensitizing medications you are taking with your technician.

Avoid for 24-48 hours:
* Swimming pools, hot tubs, or baths.
* Excessive sweating, working out
* Saunas
* Sun exposure or tanning beds
* Shave two to three days after treatment to promote shedding.
* Do not apply any lotions or moisturizers or use soap with moisturizing ingredients to avoid skin irritation.

Shortly after treatment, you may experience slight skin redness and mild swelling around the hair follicles, do not be alarmed; this is common and usually disappears within a couple of hours.
Some patients may experience a histamine reaction such as hives, rashes, swelling, eczema, and itchy skin; if this occurs, you can use Cortisone to relieve the itching.
Pigment changes may occur, especially in those with darker skin types, but these changes are usually temporary. Shave two to three days after treatment to promote shedding. After each treatment session, you will notice less and less hair. Any hair re-growth will appear approximately within 21 to 28 days. The new hair will appear softer, weaker, and reduced in density.

Laser Hair Removal significantly reduces unwanted hair growth, which is why the proper term for laser hair removal is "Permanent Hair Reduction." However, patients should expect new hair growth with hormonal imbalance, menopause, PCOS, stress, pregnancy, fluctuating hormones, or high testosterone levels, among other factors. Some hairs could resist the laser treatment and grow again after treatment, although the new hair growth might be finer and lighter in color.
